It's been well over 10 years since I've been to my old stomping' grounds. With Grandpa's funeral on the 21st, I decided it was time to go back. I left Thursday and traveled all day, getting to Kenai about 7pm that night (9pm Utah time). It was a quick trip, but full of family time and memories. We left right after the funeral Saturday and flew home Sunday, arriving about 5pm. I was so glad I went!
I forgot how beautiful those mountains can be...
A moose at the Anchorage airport
My kids freaked out when I texted Tom this picture... they were pretty convinced I was going to be eaten by a bear!
I promised a long time ago never to fly in a small airplane... but this one was my ride down to Kenai. It had one seat, an aisle, and one more seat. The pilot made two (of the seven) passengers sit in the back to even out the plane. It was soooo loud and bumpy I felt like only a tiny piece of aluminum kept me from falling to the earth. But we made it safe and sound!
I remembered this giant bear in the Kenai airport as a kid and had to get a picture with it.
