It's official: Eli turned 5!
He spent the day walking around claiming he could do anything he wanted to because "I'm the birthday boy!"
We took a quick trip to Boondocks to play in the afternoon (can't pass up free stuff).
Since we already had a friend party, we had Grandparents over for dinner.
We pretty much had my favorite meal:
Me "Eli, what do you want for your birthday dinner?"
Eli, "Chicken nuggets!"
Me (gagging) "Ok, let's have those for lunch. What else do you like for dinner?"
Eli, "Hmmm.... salad maybe."
Me (shocked) "Great! I'll make bbq chicken salads like cafe rio! What kind of cake do you want? Chocolate? Vanilla? Strawberry? Or something different?"
Eli, "Hmmm.... maybe none of those." (he's not a big cake-lover)
Me, "Ok. How about lemon?" (one of my favorites)
Eli "Sure"
So it worked out well that we had my favorite meal on Eli's bday!
Then we opened a few presents: Wii game, legos, transformer
The kids disappeared downstairs to try out the new wii game and the adults got to enjoy some peace and quiet.
Poor Grant is always sleeping and misses out on the fun!
At 5-years-old, Eli:
-is my mellow boy... He can blend in with any group of kids and you hardly notice he's there
-easy to get along with and makes friends easily
-loves to play with Ethan and will even boss him around a little
-starting to play more with Tyce
-is the kid most interested in Grant. He always wants to sing and touch and kiss Grant until the baby cries
-most considerate of others' feelings. Eli is the one that feels sad and asks if I'm okay when I stub my toe
-goes with the flow. He's just as happy playing outside as doing things inside and will do whatever
-likes preschool a lot
-starting to put sounds together to read
-still has 0 interest in writing and holds his pencil wrong (I need to work on that)
-naturally athletic
-really loves soccer but also a good swimmer. We might try baseball and golf next
-looks the most like me (in my opinion)
-LOVES any electronic game: iPad, phones, wii, etc
-favorite iPad game right now is Plants Vs Zombies and Clash of the Clans
-probably my least-likely kid to get up in the middle of the night. Bless you, Eli
-is usual good-natured and happy, but still not much of a morning person
We love you, Eli!
