The more birthdays we have, the simpler they become. This one might be hard to top. I decided on Fri to go ahead and have a birthday party for Eli on Mon. Which would be a week before his birthday. But the weather was going to be lovely and his cousin was going on a trip, so we moved it up. I texted some moms about it. Invitations? Nah.
I went to aerobics that morning, did laundry, and got in the shower at 10:40 when everyone was going to arrive at 11am. Stressed? Nope.
Then the kids arrived and we played games in the yard. With no props. We played Halloween charades, Duck Duck Goose, Freeze tag, Barnyard animals, etc. It was super easy.
Ready for a break? Yep.
So then Tom arrived with pizza and we walked to the park to eat it. I made cupcakes the night before and still hadn't frosted them. So Tom led the kids in capture the flag while I got the cupcakes and popsicles ready.
Easiest food ever? You bet. (I didn't need a single utensil)
We sang to Eli. (I was nursing the baby at the park so I missed all the cake/present fun. But Tom took some good pictures for me:)
When the party was over, I sent the kids home with a 'goody bag' from things I already had in my pantry- fruit snacks, fruit rollups, candy. Easy. And the kids had fun too. Some of them stayed for a movie.
Eli loved it! He got transformers, nerf guns, star wars guys, legos, etc.
But I still found him after everyone left on his favorite toy of all: the IPad. Oh, Eli- so hooked on electronics.
(He did play the rest of the day/evening with Ethan and his new stuff).
Happy-Almost-Birthday ELI
