Weekend News

This is the last week of school.  Ethan keeps bringing home more and more books and papers that he's worked on throughout the year.  One of them is his "Weekend News"

I wanted to write a few excerpts (from what I could interpret):

First entry 9-10-12
"A bad giy (guy) robd (robbed) my mom and I was mad and promist (promised) he wood (would) nevr (never) grop (?) me at the rog (wrong) plas (place) agen (again)."

This was Ethan's second entry- maybe written in Oct 2012.  (I had never heard him talk much about the time he was lost at Bear Lake)
"I got lost at the bech (beach) intil (until) I met a woman in (and) she ofrd (offered) me a wotr (water) to dren (drink).  I wode (rode) in a ples (police) car and the ples (police) men gave me a lolepop (lollipop) and grov (drove) me to my mom.  She wuz (was) crining (crying) ten (then) she hugd (hugged) me and hugd me and toos (took) me to dad and I nevr (never) evr (ever) gen (going) to rid (ride) a see doo agen (again) at lest (least) intell (until) tomoro (tomorrow)."

11-12?-12
"I wuz (was) at the goon (Lagoon) and it wuz hontid (haunted) thar (there) wuz a cansr (cancer?) gi (guy) dat (that) the gis (guys) hoo (who) had the cansrs were haveing no srp (?)... so thay took that off and it was a prsin (person). and a vaprir (vampire) and it scard me and I so (saw) a gi (guy) hoo (who) wuz caring (carrying) a woomin in a grbig (garbage) can and it scard me.  And the rest uv the day I playd in the litre (little) kid area... Its uvr (over) and it wuz not rir (real) and I hetid (headed) home gist in tim for dinr (dinner) and den I ran too bed and my drem (dream) wus that I wuz the bos (boss) uv the wold (world) the end."

11-26-12- I love that he spells Pokemon perfectly correct, with the dash over the e and everything
"I bilt a Crismis three and on it wuz a star and bubs (bulbs) and branchis (branches) that have glitr.  And I have feodes (?) on my Cristmas three.  And I am goning (going) too poot (put) Pokemon on my Crismis tre.  and we at thanksgiving!!!!!!!!"

"I gumpt (jumped) of (off) a clif on splash monding (mountain) and is cring (crying) with shivr (shiver).  My dad cast (catched) me.  Hora (hoorah) for dad he savd me."

"For crismis I got 2 black ots (outs) uv Pokemon and my mom took pichrs uv me.  I smilrd (smiled) sumtims (sometimes) with my Pokemon we cundin (counted) Pokemon and oll toogetr (together) we have 2036."

"Wants (Once) I wuz with my littr (little) brutr(brother) named Eli.  me and him wer plad (played) the wee  I wuz PopFriz and Eli wuz three (tree) rex and we wr on chaptr 17 and we wr batlleg (battling) kaos (chaos).  kaos smasth (smashed) omost (almost) oll uv the skilindrs (skylanders) but three Rex shrvivd (survived) and we wun.  me and eli we havt wun (won) kaos and I went to mi mom and dad and I said I wun the last levr (level) on scilindrs."

-I got a kick out of reading Ethan's thoughts, which mostly were stories about Skylanders and Pokemon.  It was fun to see his writing and spelling start to improve by the end of the year.  I can't believe 1st grade is almost over!
