So Ethan is a toe-walker. I can't remember when I noticed it, but he was probably between 3 or 4. I don't think he learned to walk on his toes as a baby. We took him to an orthopedic surgeon at Primary Childrens the day I was going to be induced with Tyce (a year ago). He said Ethan was a habitual toe walker, so we could either do nothing and he would always walk on his toes or have a surgery to lengthen his achilles tendon and prevent him from toe walking. We waited a year, had him checked again, and decided to go ahead with the surgery. Ethan also had a hammer toe (curls under) that needed to be fixed as well.
Ethan was so brave! He asked a lot of questions the night before surgery and got a little choked up but never once cried. We had to wake him up at 5:30am to check-in at the hospital. His surgery wasn't until 8am and he was so brave waiting. Everything went perfectly and now he has his casts on for 1 month followed by walking boots for another month.
with his nurse, showing me his casts right after he woke up from the anesthesia

still a little bit dazed

starting to perk up while enjoying a slushee

resting and waiting to be discharged
his only complaint- his toe hurt (the hammer toe that was fixed)

talking with daddy

i snuck him a donut that he inhaled as soon as we decided he wouldn't throw it up

dressed again, ready to go back home @ 10:30am

relaxing on the couch; trying on the little boots so he can walk soon

waiting with his brothers for popcorn and 'Smurf' movie

Great job, Ethan! He has been such a good sport all day. In fact, he had a few visitors come and bring him a treat or wish him well. After the third time, Ethan requested that I start calling people to tell them about his surgery. He figured he could score even more treats or goodies that way;)
