Infamous Picture Day

There's nothing more stressful than trying to get the whole family ready for our annual pictures. But this morning, I was feeling very optimistic. This was the first time I was having them done on a Saturday, which worked nicely since Tom could get himself ready and help with the boys. Usually I am getting everyone ready and then bringing Tom's clothes with me where he meets us there and changes after work. And I really loved the outfits I'd picked out this time- blues, mustard yellow, and red.
I was excited as we listened to Conference and got ready. We woke Tyce up from his nap, piled everyone in the car and drove down to SLC where our photographer (a friend of mine) was waiting. We were ready, everyone looked great, no spills during the car ride, etc. AND then it went downhill from there... Tyce kept crawling away and wouldn't look at the camera. Ethan kept pulling on his lower lip (which he has been doing a lot lately) and couldn't open his eyes because it was too bright. The worst was then Eli tripped on the sidewalk and ended up with a pretty good scraped knee. He pretty much didn't stop crying for the rest of the pictures. Not to mention all the snot dripping down his face and everywhere too. Ugh.
When we finished, I was less than thrilled to say the least. I pretty much gave everyone the silent treatment for not cooperating and taking the fabulous pictures I had imagined. But when we got home, there was a conference talk about not stressing/spending too much time on the things that don't really matter. (Such as taking the perfect family picture). And that helped me put things into perspective... so I'm sure I'll get over it... tomorrow.
