Happy Birthday, Grant!

I've learned over the years that less is more for a baby's first birthday.  They will probably enjoy the wrapping paper and box more than the gift.  They can be a little sensitive to too much stimulation so a big, elaborate party is not the best idea.  And they don't dive into the cake like I imagine, but rather finger paint a bit with the frosting.  So I kept it pretty simple this year and just invited the grandparents over for dinner and cake.
Grant was no different and wasn't sure he liked being "attacked" by a bouquet of balloons... at first anyhow!

The night before Grant's birthday, I told my friend that I had no cake idea for him.  She gave me the mold for this cute monkey and it actually turned out to be the best cake I've ever done!  My skills are taking right off... haha!

And Grant did seem to enjoy his presents: exersaucer, stacking toy, Thomas the train DVDs, toy penguin and train (all from a recent yard sale... I scored!)

Party is over and time for bed!
