PARTY TIME!

I always hear people say, "I can't believe my child is ______ years old!" and this is the first time I have ever felt that way.  Today Ethan turned 7!  It feels like once they start school, the time begins to fly.  He is sure growing up fast!
Ethan has been counting down to his birthday for the past 10 days or so.  He woke up excited this morning to see streamers and decorations on his door.  He came downstairs for breakfast and a birthday haircut (which he wasn't very excited about).

The kids started arriving at 10:30am.  We piled in the cars and headed to Lil Flippers for some fun.  Ethan used to go there weekly until he had surgery on his legs in December.  But I had the hardest time deciding what we should do for Ethan's party this year.  I kept playing phone tag with Lil Flippers and didn't secure our spot until Wednesday.  So we finally passed around some invitations Wed evening.
I think the kids had a lot of fun there.  After a quick warm-up, they began by running and doing tricks through a bit of an obstacle course.  I liked that it was fun for kids of all ages.
Even Tyce and his cousin Henry had a ball running around and jumping on things.  Tyce also tried out the bars and loved it.

I think Ethan enjoyed being the first one to try out the tricks.  (Ethan and Kate also playing on the bar)

Next, they got to have a styrofoam war and toss them at each other.  The kids loved it!
 Eli attacked the coach, Paige.
 Tyce totally got into it!

This party got two thumbs up:)

 Time for pizza and presents!

Ethan is really into a Wii game called Skylanders.  He's already collected some characters with his own money and couldn't wait to get the actual game and Portal of Power.  There was a theme at this party- more Skylander characters.  He also got superhero toys, legos, books, disco ball, cars toys, star wars, etc.  Lucky kid!
 Cake and ice cream
So this cake is extremely embarrassing.  After I went to Smith's last night to get some things for the party, I decided to make my own cake since they didn't have much of a selection there.  But when I added blue kool-aid to the vanilla frosting to make it tasty, it turned the color pink.  And blue food coloring only turned it a nice mauve color.  So I tried to cover it up with a billion blue and green sprinkles which didn't really work.  So I added multi-colored sprinkles as well.  And then writing on it was also difficult with all the sprinkles.  I gave up and decided to buy a new cake that morning.  But when I showed Ethan, he totally liked it.  What a great kid!  (I did fix the writing and added "Happy Birthday Ethan!" before the party.

The Party Crew

Happy Birthday, ETHAN! (Don't worry- no one will steal your cake and ice cream)
We had a fun time! And best of all, we dropped off 14 little friends and came home to a clean house!  It was easy and the kids had a great time.  Tom says we should go out for parties from now on.  I think he might be right:)
