Lagoon...how I love/hate you

Our first full week of summer and the kids have been having fun!  We've been to parks, storytime, the swimming pool, baseball games, roasting s'mores, and of course- Lagoon.  We met up with some neighbor and the kids had a blast on the rides- Tyce was even big enough for most of the kiddie rides.  Ethan loved the white rollercoaster but refused to try the Spider after I traumatized him last summer.  (I swear, I thought he'd love it cause he really likes roller coasters.)  We went first thing went it opened, came home for naps, and left with Tom again after dinner.  The kids had a blast running through the water on our way out.  It was getting a little cool but that didn't stop them from having fun.  They all three loved it!

And then on the way home, I looked for my purse (I had put it under the middle console to hide it) and discovered it was missing!  Yes, it appears Tom didn't lock the doors cause our garage door opener, car registration, Tom's paycheck, and my purse were all gone.  It has been a nightmare trying to cancel all our credit cards and remember everything in there.  Luckily, I had my driver's license with me.  But we have had to change all of our locks and the garage door since the thief now has a spare key.  And they took my birthday money ($200) and credit cards and immediately went shopping at Station Park- spending almost $700!  So frustrating that people are that dishonest.  So I think we have learned our lesson the hard way- be more careful and not so trusting of people!  At least, that's what I got out of it.

One funny thing happened the next morning.  I told Ethan about the thief that stole my purse during breakfast cause I figured he would overhear my conversations all morning since I still had more phonecalls to make.  He was so astonished by the story that he couldn't wait to wake up Eli and tell him.  The two of them searched the car for clues.  Then they came upstairs to tell me that they saw footprints around the car in lots of different sizes.  "It was a dinosaur!" Eli exclaimed.  And when Ethan told him dinosaurs aren't real, it nearly broke his heart.  "But baby dinosaurs are real!"  he said.  It was too funny hearing them discuss the thief, and they loved it when the policeman came over to talk to us and take some notes.  I guess one good thing is that the kids realize that not everyone is good and nice.  I try to tell them there are bad people out there but it doesn't really sink in.  Maybe they believe me now.
